  2. The first Labor Day Parade was held on Sept. 5th 1882.
  3. Oregon was the first state to make Labor Day a holiday in 18887.
  4. President Grover Cleveland and Congress made Labor Day a national holiday in 1894
  5. While Labor Day is meant to celebrate and pay tribute to workers, several people also use the day to mark the end of summer.
